Juliano Lopes is a Brazillian artist. I really admire his work. It’s very rare that I enjoy abstractions of the human figure, and even rarer still that I like it when an artist forgoes faces on their figures. But it works with Mr. Lopes’ work. The figures transcend the canvas, especially in his angels series. The highly emotional fluid poses of the body and the simplicity of the detail work really pushes the dymanicism of the works. The faceless quality embodies the concept of the everyman. With no faces to individualize them, the figures are potentially everyone, even the viewer.
