Juliano Lopes is a Brazillian artist. I really admire his work. It’s very rare that I enjoy abstractions of the human figure, and even rarer still that I like it when an artist forgoes faces on their figures. But it works with Mr. Lopes’ work. The figures transcend the canvas, especially in his angels series. The highly emotional fluid poses of the body and the simplicity of the detail work really pushes the dymanicism of the works. The faceless quality embodies the concept of the everyman. With no faces to individualize them, the figures are potentially everyone, even the viewer.

Although Jo’d done THOR before - it was for the Marvel Comic version. This is the first time she’d tackled the movie version of the half-brothers by Kahira’s request (art exchange).
The most pressing commercial deadlines’ met, for now. So, we are back to ITW6. The publication date was scheduled for mid-Feb back in December, obviously have to be adjusted. We hope to have it done by end of the month.

One of these days I’ll get over the fact that there’s a more famouser Jo in the comics industry than me. One of these days. T^T

2242. Coffee Stain Portrait of Jay Chou. Oh dayummmmm. who has the patience to do this?

The project took about 12 hours to finish. Coffee is quite a challenging medium to use - too little water and the rings wouldn’t form easily, too much water and the rings would blend into each other, resulting in just a deformed pool of coffee. I had to also wait for the lighter parts too dry up before stamping on the darker rings, or else the rings would not be visible.
